How to Get to Santa Claus Village: Bus 8, Taxi and the Airport

Take Bus 8. It runs from Rovaniemi railway station through the city centre to Santa Claus Village, 8 km north of town, and costs €3.60 one way (checked October 2026). The ride takes about 15 to 20 minutes. From the airport, which is only 2 to 3 km away, a taxi is the simplest option.

Santa Claus Village address

The village gives its address as Tähtikuja 1, 96930 Napapiiri (Arctic Circle), Finland, about 8 km north of Rovaniemi city centre. Santa’s Main Post Office uses the same street address. Put “Santa Claus Village” into any map app and it will find it.

Bus 8 from the city centre

  • Route: Rovaniemi railway station, the city centre, then north to the Arctic Circle and Santa Claus Village.
  • Fares (timetable valid 12 August 2026 to 6 June 2027): €3.60 one way in cash or by contactless card, €3.30 in the Waltti mobile app, €9 for a 24-hour ticket. Children aged 0 to 16 pay half.
  • Journey time: about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Timetable: Visit Rovaniemi publishes the winter timetable as a PDF. Check the last bus back before you settle in for the evening.

From Rovaniemi Airport

The airport is 2 to 3 km from the village, so many visitors go straight there from their flight. The Bus 8 timetable does not list an airport stop, so plan on a taxi, and agree the fare before you set off, because we could not find a published one. A seasonal airport bus has run in past winters; confirm it is operating before you rely on it.

Walking or driving

Walking from the city is 8 km along the main road and not pleasant in winter. Driving is easy, and the village has car parks. If you are staying in town without a car, the bus is cheaper and simpler than a taxi for the return trip.

Letting a tour do the travel

If you are booking a safari anyway, check its listing for pickup. Some Rovaniemi husky, reindeer and aurora tours collect you from your hotel, which saves the bus.
