Santa Claus Village Prices 2026: What's Free and What Costs Money

Entry to Santa Claus Village and meeting Santa are free. Photos, Snowman World, SantaPark, husky and reindeer rides cost money. The 2026 price ladder, checked October 2026.

Updated 2026-10-21

No, it does not cost money to go to Santa Claus Village. There is no gate and no ticket: you can walk in any day of the year, cross the Arctic Circle line, meet Santa in his office and visit the Main Post Office for nothing. What costs money is what you add: the official photo with Santa, Snowman World, SantaPark (a separate attraction nearby), and the husky and reindeer rides. A family can spend nothing or several hundred euros on the same day, so here is the ladder.

A storybook pencil drawing of a reindeer pulling a wooden sleigh with a family under blankets through a snowy pine forest, a herder walking alongside
A reindeer sleigh ride, one of the paid extras, as a storybook drawing.

So the honest budget for a family of four is: nothing at all for the free core, around €60 if you want the photo, and from there it depends entirely on which rides you add.

Is Santa Claus Village worth it?

For a family with children who believe in Santa, yes, and the free entry makes it low-risk: if the children tire after an hour, you have spent the bus fare. For adults without children it is a tourist site first, so treat it as a free stop and spend your money on what Lapland does best, the huskies, the reindeer and the aurora.

If you are going to book one thing, make it the combined day: a reindeer sledge ride, a husky ride and free time in the village, with a guide. It is the most-reviewed Santa Claus Village experience on GetYourGuide, at 4.6 from 2,418 reviews (checked October 2026). Sled rides need snow cover and usually run from about mid-December; earlier in the season the farms run wheeled rides instead.

Can you visit Santa Claus Village for free?

Yes, fully. Free entry covers everything at the heart of the village: the Arctic Circle line painted across the square, Santa Claus Office where you meet Santa, the Main Post Office where children’s letters arrive, and the shops. The only costs on a free visit are getting there and whatever you eat. The bus from the city centre is €3.60 each way; see how to get to Santa Claus Village.

How much are the photos with Santa?

Meeting Santa is free, but you are not allowed to take your own photos or video in the room. The official photos start at €55 for a digital package covering up to five people (the figure we found in August 2026; the office shows current prices on site). Nobody has to buy. Knowing the price before you walk in with an excited six-year-old is the useful part.

How much time does Santa Claus Village take?

Two to three hours covers the free core. Most visitors spend four to six hours once they add a meal and one or two paid activities. A full safari day with the village runs seven to eight hours.

Santa Claus Village or SantaPark?

They are different places, 2 km apart. The village is free and open all year; SantaPark is a paid, seasonal attraction in a cavern with its own Santa meeting. Our SantaPark or Santa Claus Village guide compares them.
