SantaPark or Santa Claus Village: Which One to Visit

Santa Claus Village is free and open all year; SantaPark is a paid winter attraction in a cavern 2 km away. What each costs in 2026, who each suits, and whether you need both.

Updated 2026-10-21

If you can only do one, do Santa Claus Village. It is free, it is open every day of the year, and you meet Santa there without a ticket. SantaPark is worth adding if you have young children and are visiting in its winter season, because it is built entirely around them: an underground cavern of elf-themed shows and workshops with its own Santa meeting. They are about 2 km apart, so doing both in one day is easy.

Which is better, SantaPark or Santa Claus Village?

For most visitors, the village, because it gives you the Arctic Circle, Santa, the post office and Lapland’s activities for nothing, and it works for every age. SantaPark is the better experience for small children on a Christmas trip, because everything inside is designed for them and the cavern keeps them warm. For adults travelling without children, SantaPark adds little.

Can you do both in one day?

Yes. They are close together, and the village needs only two or three hours if you stick to the free core. A common plan is the village in the morning, lunch there, and SantaPark in the afternoon. In December, book SantaPark ahead and go early in the day, when it is quieter.

What to add instead

If your children are older or you are travelling without children, put the money into something you cannot do at home. A husky ride starts right inside the village, and the reindeer, husky and village day combines both animals with free time at the village. After dark, a northern lights chase from Rovaniemi is the experience most visitors remember. Our Santa Claus Village prices guide puts every option on one ladder.
